JOshi book reveals BJP’s economic divide

New Delhi, May 2: Differences among top BJP leaders on the economic policy India should pursue will again come to the fore when Murli Manohar Joshi’s book hits the stands next week. The former human resource development minister pans economic liberalisation in contrast to L.K. Advani’s passionate support for the Manmohan Singh line. The book argues that the consequences of unlimited growth are frightening and could trigger global turmoil.

A book that searches a new path

Dr Joshi’s book on Science Sustainability and Indian National Resurgence released IT was an auspicious evening when a timely book on Science Sustainability and Indian National Resurgence by Dr M. M. Joshi was released by renowned scientist and former Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Prof. M.G.K. Menon at a function held in New Delhi on May 7, 2008. There was a galaxy of intellectuals from various walks of life, which ornamented the occasion. The function continued for more than two hours in which prominent scholars, academicians and scientists delivered their speeches. The function was organised by the Centre for Policy Studies, Chennai.

In the party with a difference, ever-squabbling BJP leaders have found a new way to be one-up over one another. Former BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi is set to release a book, close on the heels of the much-talked-about one by NDA’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani. “I will not go to the doorstep of Sonia Gandhi or for that matter any other politician with an invite, with the sole exception of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” Joshi underlines to the people he meets these days.

In what many believe that it is a veiled attack on his colleagues, L K, Advani and Jaswant Singh, Joshi said he didn’t approve of politicians authoring autobiographies.
